About

Hello,

I’m Morgan McEnany. I’m not your typical farm kid as the first generation removed from the farm. However, growing up on a small acreage surrounded by corn and soybeans helped keep me rooted in agriculture. I was a 4-H Clover Kid who later became an active member of 4-H and FFA. During high school, I started my FFA Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE). My SAE brought me insight into the seed industry, as I worked for a roguing crew eventually contracting seed corn acres and hiring my own crew. I completed my time in FFA when I received my American FFA Degree.

I spent every summer starting at the end of my sophomore year of high school taking Des Moines Area Community College courses. After graduating from high school, I attended Iowa State University where I spent time writing for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences student run publication, job shadowed with Iowa Public Radio, and worked as a farm broadcast intern at WHO through the National Association of Farm Broadcasting. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Life Sciences Education – Communication option and a minor in Journalism and Mass Communication and Advertising.

I moved into different roles after college both inside and outside of the agriculture industry. Currently, I’m a Social Media Coordinator for a company also rooted in agriculture. I still look for ways to further my writing experiences and use this blog as a look at life as an ag communicator, teaching moments, and travel. I’ve since started my Master of Arts in Strategic Communication through the University of Iowa.
